Delegation from SCCI met with the Finance Minister & provided suggestions on various issues.

Today, a delegation from Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce met with the Finance Minister, Mr. Rameshwar Oraon, and provided suggestions on various issues. Mr. Manav Kedia, Honorable Secretary, informed that despite a six-year interval, the state government’s revenue officers are still not receiving additional compensation for GST, resulting in significant financial loss to them. The Chamber brought this matter to the attention of the Finance Minister.

Mr. Piyush Chaudhary, Secretary of Finance and Taxation, explained that a Chamber member had raised concerns about discrepancies in notices issued by the State Tax Department. To address this, the Chamber submitted a memorandum to Ms. Vipra Bhal, IRS, and Mr. Santosh Vats, IRS, State Tax Commissioner. The Chamber suggested that the state government should make it mandatory to include DIN numbers for all notices, along with the name, contact details, and office address of the issuing officer. Business owners should have the option to respond to the notice online or via email for added convenience.

Despite nearly six years passing, the non-establishment of the GST Tribunal continues to cause dissatisfaction for the Chamber. Therefore, the Chamber requested the Finance Minister to consider improvements in the dispute resolution scheme, including extending its deadline.

The Honorable Minister attentively listened to all the issues and assured appropriate action. Mr. Santosh Vats also discussed actions taken by the department against fake dealers and had an in-depth discussion on additional GST compensation and the dispute resolution scheme with the delegation. Mr. Manav Kedia, Honorable Secretary, and Mr. Piyush Chaudhary, Advocate and Secretary of Finance and Taxation, were also present in the delegation.
